EVALUATION TASK 7

I feel i learnt a lot from the preliminary task we shot we couple of months ago, especially shot types and rules when videoing. One of the main rules i learnt was  how to shoot the over the shoulder shot twice on the same side but over the other persons shoulder. This is called the 180 degree rule. This is when recording a conversation between two people and you have to imagine there is a line dividing them. We had to keep the camera on either the left or the right of the imaginary line to prevent the people looking like they'd  changed round. In our credit sequence we were in a very rare situation where we didn't have to keep to the 180 degree rule as we were only filming one person. One thing we did learn from it is making sure each scene we shot from different angles was shot with the same arm, position and had the same objects in.

I also learnt the match on action shot from doing the preliminary task.
We shot the match on action shot but in the end we didn't use it in our final credit video.
It was good as we still shot it incase we needed it, to shoot the match on action shot we got a close up of my hand on the door then me about to walk through the door, then changed the shot angle to me walking out the door on the other side, i think our footage of this was smooth but we had too much other footage to use it in our final credit video.

We shot each scene from three different angles in the green room. This gave us enough footage to edit. We shot quite a few different angles that we didn't use in the end such as the Point of View Shot and the Canted Angle Shot. I liked the over the shoulder shot from when Johnson was flicking through the pages of the book.
Two of my favourite scenes we shot were the ones of the bloody arm in the cupboard and the one of Johnson flicking the needle. I like these shot because it creates a sense that the film is going to be quite vicious at times. I also really enjoy the bit when Johnson is about to inject himself with the needle right before it turns into an edit cartoon still of that shot for the credits, i think that creates suspense. Another shot we filmed but didn't use was the 'match on action shot' i think this shot was smooth but unfortunately we had too much footage to fit it in. I remember spending a lot of time cutting our video down from 3minutes twenty! I think if we had planned a few less shots or missed a couple out our video would have flowed better as we would have been able to use the shots such as the P.O.V and match on action.
I shot i particularly enjoy is the tracking shot when right after Johnson flicks the needle. The camera tracks him slowly to when he sits back down.

I feel we had done a lot of planning for this and we also tried shooting our credit sequence in various locations, our first of which was a church, this looked really old fashioned and at the time we thought it wasn't modern day enough for our remake.
After this we shot it again but in my room, i think this worked quite well being modern day, but in the end we decided to shot it in the media room at college. There were a few rooms to choose from, i wanted the black room but the others wanted to shoot it in the green room so we started to film in the green room. I still feel the lighting was a bit odd for an office but the colour does make you think and it makes it very abstract.
I liked the edited stills i created in photoshop and i also think playing around with all the motion key frames on Final Cut worked well with giving it that trippy effect. I liked the motion key frame of the still when the edited image zooms into the bloody hand.
