Research. Music video shots

This is a shot from the metros video 'Education Part 2' that i think is cool because it has the lead singer walking in a corridor of a typical school. The band are young in this video and look as if they fit into the school with the clothes they're wearing etc. The song is about education so doing some shots of the video in a school is a clever idea.

This is my favourite shot of the video Brainstorm by Arctic Monkeys. I like it as the song is drum based and they have Matt Helders(drummer) larger than the others in this shot. I like the smokey lighting effect use and the fact they all have their backs turned away from the camera which creates a sense of mystery.

I like this shot from the video 'Radio Ladio' by Metronomy because it has all three of them on keyboards and they're a keyboard based band so i think it sums them up well. They have a bright background and all of them are wearing smart clothes with bright colours that don't really match....i also like the fact that their faces are painted a certain colour a bit like ompalompas from willy wonka and the chocolate factory.

This is a shot from the video Hummer by the band Foals. I think this shot is clever because of the dark blue lighting used which makes it almost seem as if they are underwater even though they're quite obviously not as they're wearing tennis clothing, acting like mummies and wearing goggles.

I like this shot from the video 'In One Ear' by Cage The Elephant because it has Matt(Lead singer) going mental dancing to music while singing. This sums up the band Cage The Elephant as every live show they play their lead singer goes crazy!

I like this shot from Stevie Wonders video 'I just called to say i love you' because it has stevie singing the lyrics on the phone while sitting besides a paino which he plays very well...along with 293894 other instruments!

This is my favourite shot the from video 'Killing in the name' by Rage Against The Machine. I like it because the security has come on to control the crowd. The video is just Rage playing live, with the crowd moshing to the beautiful sound and going crazy to it, the shot with the security is a clever one as the band fight for freedom in the community and security coming on stage perhaps states that.

Construction, Planning. Digipack latest

Today I've managed to finish the three panels of my digipack, i've decided to scrap my other idea's for the panel which will hold the cd in as i thought perhaps taking a photo of a guitar chords and placing the photo three times on that pannel would look good, with the CD also having the three guitars on so when you take the CD out of the digipack it will look the same. I thought of this because of the song and album name is called 'Three Chord Love Song'
I would try to make this panel look as poppy as i can as it will be the only panel without an image of 'Tino Coury'
This is the possible design so fat for the cd panel. I tried to make it the same purperly colour i made the other panels. The problem with this is that you can tell they're three seperate images the same, put together. I think the effect of just one guitar as the cd panel might be effective.

I like the effect of just one guitar on it's own for the CD panel as the circle in the middle of the guitar almost looks like a cd. I used an acoustic guitar as that of course is more poppy than an electric.

By reflecting on feedback from my digipack i have managed to what i think improve from my original idea's, this shows feedback is a very important part of creating something! I might need to even change a panel again after shooting our video, perhaps using a shot from our video on my extra panel with the lyrics on...we shall see!

The Toddla T album cover has an intertextual refrence to the arctic monkeys album 'whatever people say i am, i'm not'

Construction. CD cover

This is a rough design of what my CD in my digipack might look like, my original design was something like this, but i'm still unsure how to fit the pictures and background in so it looks effective and in theory i would like to somehow mix the two of these together for my CD pannel in the digipack!

Final Product. Finished magazine album promotion

Research. Video task

This is the video i created in this afternoons lessons, i really like the editing at 15 seconds, as i think it goes well with the music and also looks like comical.

Planning and Research. Digipack 4 pannel + Peoples reactions and feedback

These are 4 pannels i've made for my digipack!
One of these needs to fit into a pannel for the CD,
I managed to film other students reactions to my Digipack so far, unfortunately after filming it was the end of the lesson and when i got back someone had taken the camera and filmed over everything! Very annoying!
Luckily i have managed to write down their video responses.

Construction. Research. Poster task

This is my poster magazine design so far for our song and album 'three chord love song'
First i researched on pop magazines and i found that both Vibe and G magazine both reviewed albums in pop music,

This is my updated version of my magazine poster as it has the places where you can buy the record album such as Itunes, Amazon and HMV.

A few things we came up with that might be on magazine advert are, artist name, album name, reviews Webpage for the artist, Record label and where you can download or buy the album.

I put Tino Courys website on my advert so people(fans) could check the latest things he is up to, i also tried to give a male pop effect to it with the lighting on photoshop. I think this could fit into most music magazines, due to it being mainly black which shows it isn't targeting just the ladies or gay audience.
I can imagine this article in magazines such as Heat, Rolling Stone or even NME even though the music isn't NME's usual style.

Construction. This afternoons digipack work

Again i've been looking at many different fonts!
I've almost finished my extra pannel as well as my front cover and backcover, just missing a bit of information on copyright and record lables etc on the back.

here is a screen grab of it so far,

Research. This mornings digipack work

This morning i've been looking at more fonts after i got some feedback on my album design so far. The only constructive criticism i got was that the font could be a little better perhaps in the style of handwritting to make it more personal. The rest of the comments were very positive.

This morning i've been looking at more fonts that look more handwritten as the font i am using doesn't look personal enough for the album.

Research. Pop music

I decided to really get into my genre of pop the other day by downloading some songs by famous pop artists and putting my own style of beat to it on the drums to see how it would sound. Listening back i don't think it was too effective and would definitely lay back on the amount of bass drum i used at times and also a bit less cowbell in some songs next time i play along.  I was trying to make the genre more heavy by playing drums to it.
Here are a couple snippets.

Construction, planning. chosen song

While listening to our chosen song '3 chord love song' i get a happy feeling inside as it is a very cheesy pop song. I found the song searching for new artists and when i heard the song it stood out as a good song to use as it's upbeat and also catchy, so will be easier to learn the lyrics. The song is typically about love. The song makes me want to sing along and may make people want to dance. This is the lyric video for it found on youtube as there is no official video as yet.

Research, Planning. Digipack Design

This is the digipack design i made, i attempted to draw the kinds of images i wanted on my digipack, i also wrote down all the things i wanted to try and include such as lyrics etc.

Construction. Todays work

Today i've been completing my digipack, i've only finished my front cover so far, i decided to use the font 'You are loved' that i found on dafonts.com, i also used the 'drop shadow' effect on photoshop on the font to give it that extra effect so it stands out.
This is my front album cover,

Research. Video's made in my own time

These a some video's i made for my band in my own time using pictures mostly of us with a few from flikr and google and editing on final cut, this first one is called 'Light In The Tunnel' i decided to use a lot of the fade tool for the lighting on final cut. This gives out the effect of there not being too much light. Also at 4:12 i use a picture i found of a tunnel with a light at the end and at 3:00 i use a picture of two people dancing as the lyric is 'it takes two to tango'

In this video it's just one set image of a cigarette burning away, the main lyric in the chorus is 'Love burns away like a ciggorette' therefor i thought it was quite relevant to make this. I used final cut to make the Total Emergency logo go smaller and then larger again so that the video wasn't totally boring! I think this song is a very poppy song!

This is a video i made with the whole band in about 8 minutes, with an average picture camera from a phone on a tripod. We used a church setting and literally just played our song through with us on different instruments each time the song played(In a total 4 as there are 4 of us in the band) Unfortunately this was done very late at night so we only got those shots down, but we were onto other idea's of different kinds of shots, such as close ups, high angle, low angle, pans, and hand held shoots of us walking down the street singing the song together. Obviously it was just a very bad draft to what the actual video would look like and we'd have more idea's next time.

Planning, Construction. edited image

The font used is not the font i want to use in my real digipack!
This is an edited image with the album title and artist name on in the kind of positioning i want to use in my album cover. I think i'm getting on well with the digipack, yet if time i would like to perhaps change my clothing to something more pop star like, such as blue jeans and a leather jacket.

Planning

Unfortunately we couldn't find a rose anywhere this afternoon despite it being valentines day less than a weeks time, shocker. We still went out on the photoshoot, getting shots of me(as i have to be Tino Coury in our video) i wanted to get shots of me sitting down with my hands in my hair a bit like the peter andre pose in his latest album, along with a happy one of me jumping possibly for the inside booklet of the digipack to show i(Toni coury) has a happy side.
I like the way michael bubble is standing in this album cover of, he isn't smiling yet he doesn't look sad. Perhaps in our video i could wear a suit in one of the of our shots if we chose to do a few different locations and keep swapping between those locations every few seconds.

i like the photo to the left here, i think with album title '3 chord love song' written on the wall and his name 'Tino Coury' in written in large perhaps going down on the left of me(Tino Coury)

These are the photo's i really like from our album cover shoot. I wanted to get a photo of me sitting on the floor with my hands in my hair before the day started as i thought it was a good pose for an album cover and not too typical.

Research, Construction. photoshoot digipack photos

- I may try this image again as a bit of my head is chopped off, i really like this photo and it's just what i was looking for to be on the front of the booklet which has the lyrics in inside my digipack. It shows a happy side to the artist.
