Hammer Horror(post 1)

Hammer Film Productions is a film production company based in the United Kingdom. Hammer horror production was founded by 1938.
Hammer Productional films have had low budgets, but some appeared rich, making use of very good British actors and cleverly designed sets.
They produced films all though the 50’s up to the 70’s mainly in the genre of Gothic horror. There main break though was a film called 'Quatermass Xperiment' which was directed by Val quest. Playing lead role in  'Quatermass Xperiment' was Brain Donlevy.  They named the film Xperiment rather than Experiment to cash on the new X certificate for horror films. All this success led to hammer producing an increasing amount of horror films, including two sequels Quatermass 2 (1957) and Quatermass and the pit (1967) leading to become synonymous with the genre.

Dracula is a 1958 British horror film, and the first of a series of Hammer Horror films inspired by the Bram Stoker novel DraculaDracula had a budget £81,412 and began principal photography on 11th november 1957. Dracula was an hudge success, breacking box-office records across the world. . A full legal agreement between Hammer and Universal was not completed until 31 March 1958  – after the film had already been shot – and was 80 pages long.

Hammer also produced science fictionthrillersFilm Noir and comedies – and in later years, television series.
