Research, Construction. More feedback from the rough cut of our video

I have been analyzing all the feedback we've been getting from our video. Here are a few screen grabs of responses that we have been getting.

From these responses the main thing we really need to work on is the location of our storyline. We have shot Dougs performance which went well. We plan to complete everything by the end of the week. Some people thought maybe the girl crying should be in a toilet or in a bedroom due to this being a typical place a girl retreats to when upset which was useful feedback but we feel the black room suits our video more as other responses said that a change of location and lighting would look odd and not suit the style of the video so we have decided to keep the scene of where Holly is crying and tearing up the photo of Scott. Catherine states that she isn't keen on the shot where Scott and Holly are fighting in front of Tino Coury so we will experiment on taking that shot out and seeing if the story still works. I had the idea of making a sheet with all the feedback we have got on our rough cut so it was easier to read.

The general positives from the feedback we collect was the location and the lighting which was an encouragement for me managing to organize it.

These are some positive feedback quotes by people.

The beginning is very catchy!! Stephan does a very good job in expressing in what's going on in the song and acting it out in reality!! Doug comes in at the right time! The argument between Holly and Scott is well filmed and Holly did a great job at it even though it was difficult for her ( keep going!!). The song itself is good and how it's filmed and put together, the lyrics match with the video and what happens in it! Holly ripping the picture and her showing how she's down.... The lights are great and the grey and color contrasts are well made!! The fading at the end was really good!! The ending was good as well and filmed well with Stephan and Holly!= )"
"The editing is very well done and the performance was very believable!"
"Plot was relevant to lyrics"

Here are some of the negative feedback we have been trying to sort out in our music video, all of the negative feedback has been very constructive for us!
"The location stays the same, which makes it feel a little 'Samey'."
"The rap part isnt really mimed up."
"Some parts of the lip syncing. On the stage with Doug."
"Locations for holly, plain!"
"Seeing the stage and the lights behind it, sort of gave it a rookie feel."
"the other acting wasnt bad but it could be improved"
"Fairly predictable, Not enough of Scott. Felt something should have brightened up a bit more when the singer was dancing with the girl dancing, the lighting and mood is pretty much the same all the way though bar the facial expressions."
"Keep the idea, Just expand it a little." -
"I don't think you should do different locations (eg. outside) because I don't think the feel/lighting would match up. I also think it'd look too obvious that you needed extra scenes and quickly put them in there. So if you were to do extra scenes, keep them similar to the setting they're already in. I don't think you really need too much more, but if you were going to add anything else, it'd be relationship scenes." - this bit of feedback was very interesting and raised a good point that i agree with!  the lighting throughout the whole of our video is dark with lighting and i agree with the fact that broad daylight would destroy the effort we put into creating style with using the Junction as our main performance location.  I am very happy with filming scott walking out of the dark in anger to finish the story line. I heard that natural outdoor lighting can very easily look unprofessional.

A lot of very good music video's have been an entire performance of the band or artist.  I don't think there needs to be a lot of detail in of the story line in our music video. Do we really need to know more than the fact that their relationship is over with the fault of the boyfriend? I like how the end of our video has me(Tino Coury) and Holly standing infront of each other happy, we don't see us kiss or anything which gives the audience opportunity to imagine what will happen next.
