Research. Flyers

First when i was thinking of past flyers for pop music i thought of ones i had already seen before, i knew that Ellie Goulding had played cambridge a few times before so checked out her previous flyers from the promotion company SPC(Strange Place Club)
The first flyer was for when she played Portland Arms a while back before she released her hit songs.
It's quite a dull poster being black .. but also has a pop feel with the bright different colours over her name which i like and would include something like that when creating my pop flyer. The second flyer has a big picture of Ellie Goulding on, with a (14+) sign in the bottom corner which i like telling people there is an age limit for her show. I like that they have used their promotion company SPC right above Ellie Gouldings name, this shows they're trying to get the name of their promotion company out there even more.

I really enjoy the colours and feel of this flyer dispite there being no real information or artist on it. I get a real pop feel from the bright colours and shapes. The fact it has stereo speakers with a stencil of a lady and a man jumping tells us there is going to be music and perhaps lots of dancing and jumping about.
This is another flyer design i like which has similar colours to the last one.

I have been searching for 'Pop Clubs' and Pop Venues' in cambridge for a long time. First i thought of Cornexchange as i know many pop artists have played their in the past, yet they put on such a vierity of rock and indie acts as well. I then thought of another big venue in cambridge 'The Junction' It says they put on some pop artists yet when i looked at their upcoming shows it was only indie and rock bands with a couple folk artists. So i decided to look at the smaller more unknown clubs in Cambridgeshire. While looking at these clubs i came across a bigger club in cambridge called Ballare. The Ballare Club, also known as Cindies to the local students (after its previous name Cindarella's) is the place to go if you like cheesy dance music expects pop and 80s dance anthems. Ballare is highly popular through the week and at the time of writing had a number of theme nights: Monday: School Days
Tuesday: The Edge (CUSU)
Wednesday: Rumboogie
Thursday: Unite in delight (International Students night)
Friday: Hot
Saturday: Cool
After reading information like this i thought it was great to hold a pop night.
