What I have done today

Today I've been watching tutorials for the effects on photoshop which i think will look good for our credits, finished the animatic with Micheal, done some editing from our clips on Friday putting close ups and shots together on final cut and also experimented again with music for our credits. I've made another song on garage band that i think will sound good, i wasn't planning on a classical mellow piano effect but when i played it and watched the video of the shots we took on Friday it went very well together. The music didn't sound very horror as such but still gave a good effect to what i had edited today.

Credit Credits

Today I'm going to be experimenting with the credits for our film as i am the only one in again in my group.
I think how the credits look, the font and the way the credits come in are very important.
I'm also going to look again at the music as we're still undecided on what music to have although having idea's on what to use.
Plan for this week
Today - credits(font, colour etc)
Music - (Find music that fits perfectly for the credits)
Edit the supposedly final footage we took on friday(see if we can improve the footage again, see whats good/bad)

The credit's I'm basing our opening is a bit like this

Filming Today

Today we filmed the real shots for the remake credits of Imonster.
We filmed it in the media room, but decided instead of using the black room to use the green room as it was a lot more spacious and we thought we could get some better shots.
I brought in the props, hat, fake cigarette, candle, matches and a pen which looked slightly like a needle, to give it the blood effect i put some red ink inside the needle. I think this looked quite effective.
We kept to our story board for the shots. The only slight change was instead of picking up the needle from a box, we picked it up from a cupboard inside the room.
I am pleased with most of shots we took. We used a large verity or angle types. We used the close up, mid shot, long shot, low angle shot and we also used a canted angle shot, but some of these angle types we may not use for the remake, this is because we want to use the angles that look best.

Filming Yesterday and location for shooting the REAL credit sequence.

Yesterday we filmed our credit sequence, we went back to my house first and created some shots there, then we went to a church which i have keys to and shot it there, we still weren't happy with the shots as we thought both locations did not fit what we want.
Only now i realise that planning and finding the perfect location before hand is very very important.
I am glad we video'd yesterday as we found out some shots that work, and some that don't work. I think we need to be more organized with the angle of each shot we are going to do.
Today we found a very good location for filming, it's inside the college so very assesible. I will go book the location later.
Here are some photo's of the location i found.
I have now been filling out our horror remake crew list and call sheet while uploading the huge amount of shots we took yesterday.

A Tormented Film

This is a 2 second clip i made for our credit sequence of Imonster.
We already had An Urban Town productions made. This clip was around 2 seconds so i tried to cut my clip down to as short as that so it wouldn't take up much time of our credits and it would keep everything short, snappy and interesting.
I used blood like writing to create the horror effect for our credits so it would fit in with what we are trying to do.

Shooting the video today and talking about the music choice.

Today we had many idea's about what music to do for our opening credit of Imonster.
We decided on making the music on garage band as a more horror classical piece, then in the last scene we have Dr Marlowe walking out the door. We thought of another possible shot at the end of Dr Marlowe putting on his ipod and as he presses play to the song the song will fade in over the original soundtrack as the soundtrack fades out.
We had some discussion of what the song would be, in the end i came out with Monster by The Automatic, i thought this was very good for the ending of our credits as the lyrics are 'whats that coming over the hill is it a monster, is it a monster'
I think this song at the end of our credits would definitely create the witty comedy feel to the clip.

Tuesday 23 November 2010

This is the story board to our credit sequence.
I hope our final video will have shots like these in it.

These are the scenes we have above just in the form of words.

Improving Our rough cut

There are many things i think we can do to improve the rough cut we shot on Friday. I think the changes between each scene are very average and to improve the change overs I think we need to improve the video's keeping the camera on the tripod at all times and also adding a lot more verity to the type of angles such as POV, long shot, close up, mid shot and low angle shot as well as of course the over the shoulder shot.
Also improving all the transitions. I think i can find a better transition for each of the scenes, and i will add the text after the cartoon still appears to add extra effect as i think this will look a lot more effective than it already does with the text appearing at the same time as the cartoon frame.

Credit rough cut

This morning we shot some scenes for our rough cut of our Imonster title sequence re-make.
We shot it in a room at our college, for the real thing we want to shoot it in a more private room perhaps  a study or one of our bedrooms. After shooting the scenes i got editing on Final Cut, i wanted to create the cartoon effect with the shots taken, so i took screen grabs of the image still but to do this on final cut i had to go to 'file' then 'export' then still image file using 'quicktime conversion' then put the still image into photoshop making giving it the cartoon effect then importing it back into the video using a range of different transactions as i am now unsure on what to use for the final piece. So far I've used a verity of transactions such as the Explode, the Ripple and the Implode.
During our real credit sequence I'd like to keep to just one effect/transition.

During the editing and filming of this we changed quite a few scenes, partly as for the rough cut we didn't have the material such as to spill a cup of tea on the college floor.

To push one scene out and put another scene in we used the 'matrix' transition.

Opening Credits Pitch, Imonster re-make storyline

A writer who hardly knows himself after he lost his wife in a fatal accident. He drags himself to become a drug addict, living with paranoia in an enclosed dark village. His whole life he has been the victim but yet does he know he is about to become the suspect. Selling drugs to earn pocket money, he has taken up a full career in dosing, kidnapping and testing drugs on the living. He’s a man of two personalities by day he is a successful writer who loves to socialize and make banter with his childhood friends and by night he is a ruthless drug addict who feeds on the fun of torturing and testing on the ‘worthless’ ones of society. With a dark humor and twist to the film, his victims break free in the funniest of ways. A film that will keep you on your feet with humour and horror throughout the adrenaline pumping 90 minutes.

Story Board with edited photo's.

These are some images i put together on photoshop from still shots we took yesterday to see if some of our cartoon idea's would work in photoshop, I've put where the credits would go on each image taken and put all the edit images onto one photoshop document as a story board like the actual shots we are going to take.

Animatic

This is the anamatic for our Imonster credit sequence

Mondays imonsters remake work

Today I've been experimenting on photoshop by importing different photo's and changing the diamics of the picture by using the filter and changing them into an effect we like. Our favourite and the one we are going to use to give our credit opening the cartoon effect is 'Cut Out'
Also for the credits to work on the photo's we need to make the background photo image lighter, so over the cut out effect we will need to put more effects for everything to blend and work.
My original thoughts were to just use cut out and then change the lighting as it would be easier, but i don't think this looks as good as using other effects over the cut out.
If the other effects over the cut out still show too dark then i can still use this tool but i am pleased with how the images are looking without it.

Then started to play around on final cut with the still images and also a video taken on photobooth trying to get the same still as the image so we could play around with transactions, the favourite was 'Ripple' where the normal image turns into the cartoon image with credits using the ripple.

This weeks time managment

Today i have been mixing around on garage band with music for our title opening sequence to the movie Imonster, I've found this fun and think I've created and found some very good sounds for our movie with a good mix to choose from for the opening as I've got upbeat music to slow music that makes you feel the movie is going to be something scary and deep.
We need to manage our time this week, by doing this i have planned out what i aim to do for this week(it may not all go to plan but at least it's a plan)
Monday - finish music and make sure we have all props prepared and available to video. - think of more idea's I.E dialogue if we are going to have any speech in our opening sequence.
Tuesday - reahearse what we are going to video
Wednesday - start to video some scenes of our video to make sure everything works.
Thursday - edit credits and cartoon effects onto shots video'd on photoshop
Friday - catch up on everything that needs to be done.

Creating the modern day title sequence.

There are many things i need to take into account when re-creating Imonster and making the modern day title sequence.
One of these is Feasibility, which means is what i am wanting to do possible, do i have the resources, technology and skills to create what i am planning.
Another is Viability, such as is what i am wanting to create doable and will i have the available support and assistance.
Last but not least is Desirability, such it being watchable for the viewer, does it fit the brief and is it what the client wants!

Imonster Settings

These are some of the settings they have to the film Imonster that I am creating a modern day title sequence to.
I shall take into account some of the settings they have used to create different kinds of atmospheres and suspense in the movie in my modern day title sequence.

Today and the first nine scenes story board for Imonster

Today I've been watching a lot of credit and open sequences to different kinds of films, I've decided to change the original plan to our opening credit sequence to Imonster as i think we were making it too much like a two minute version of the film itself. Now I am thinking of ideas of how to update, make Imonster modern day and also looking at the different fonts for credits we could use. I have also been trying to experiment with garage band on different kinds of music we can create for our open sequence which has been good fun.

I came up with many idea's today for our title sequence remake of Imonster.
The first scene is going to be an image of a table with a cup of tea and a needle on with a bright light effect flickering 6 times each times the light flickers a bit more tea will be gone. Also on the table will be a peice of paper with one of the cast writen on it for extra effect. After this there will be a still cartoon image. Maybe a couple darts and a photo frame on the table also? ... We shall see as these ideas are bound to change again.

Second scene has a bit of a jumpy camera effect with a tube of chemicals frozen up close up with writen on the chemical another one of the casts name. This will be coming from his right hand side.

Third shot is the same but from the angle of the other hand with another chemical in and another acters name on coming from his left side. then freezing into cartoon with the credits of the acters name on the chemical.

Scene 4 is 'dr marlowe' about to bang both his hands down on the table with it stopping mid shot going cartoon with the camera then zooming in to a picture frame on the table with more credits in then zooming back out to marlowes hands

scene 5 'dr marlowe' hitting the table after the stop from scene four. Tea falling over with credits coming out of the tea onto the table/sheet of paper changing the writing to more credits.

scene 6 marlowe injecting himself with a needle, then him wiping his arm after with credits appearing on his arm right after wiping.

for Scene 7 i was thinking of a close up of marlowes eyes that turn white due to the effects of the injection which i can do on photoshop after filming.

Scene 8 Marlowe putting his coat on/doing shirt and suit up

Scene 9 Marlowe picking up some harrybo as he walks out the door.

Characters and Narrative (Imonster)

Christopher lee plays both Dr Marlowe and Mr Blake. They are the same person technically, but there are two different personalities, and changes take place to the body so that Dr Marlowe transforms into a monster. Dr. Marlowe is an ambitious, well dressed  and respectable doctor, who loves experimenting with different chemicals, and then seeing what happens when they are given to patients. Through experimenting, he ends up creating a second personality for himself, otherwise known as Mr Blake. Mr Blake is one of the evil people in the film, who takes over Dr. Marlowes life at night.  Dr Marlowe would probably be seen as a flawed good character, because of the way that he experiments with the chemicals in an irresponsible way. He is also a victim, because of the way that Mr Blake takes over his life.

Peter Cushing takes on the role of Dr Marlowes good friend. He comes across as very driven, well dressed and wealthy.

For those who want to know more about the actor Eric Mabius he is a good new rising actor with an intense screen presence, i think this is great for our credit sequence as i think it is quite an intense opening.

For those who don't know much about Patrick Magee here is some information on him.
Patrick Magee is a classic example of how certain actors rate the stage far more highly than the screen. Magee was well aware that the vast majority of the films that he appeared in were dreadful (he mostly played sinister villains in horror films) - taken from http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0535861/bio

Aaron Johnson is a young actor who has starred in a some successful movies of lots of different genre's. This will be a good attribute to our credit sequence as we are also making Imonster nowadays i think he will help us.

I Monster re-make opening scene.

Opening Scene,
An establishing shot of a church on cold dark, misty night. With the evil and ruthless Mr Blake carrying a body in a bin bag into the church, with a strange mysterious theme song in the opening. Then a build up of sound and a close up of Mr Blake turning his head to make sure nobody is watching him entering the church, with a title credit to come up of who he is (actor wise) And hopefully this shot will be filmed with fish eye until the close up of Mr Blakes face.

Cottage and Doghouse comparison

I could tell the Cottage was more of a typical horror film the moment the music started to play and the first scene of the mist in the country side. The Cottage definitely had a lot of aspects of horror in the opening sequence, with the two guys in the dark in the middle of the country and a lady tied up in the boot of their car when i think that Doghouse didn't have much of a typical horror opening sequence. The title was the big give away for me that Doghouse was a horror film, yet it was all shot in daylight with all the men seeming to have girl problems which isn't a typical start to a horror movie. The other things that i had to look out for that could make Doghouse a horror were the red shoe, the comic book store of Matt who seemed to take the comics very seriously and Patricks wife or lady friend throwing a glass object at him as he leaves the room.
The music in Doghouse was quite rocky and not what i would have put to the introduction if i was wanting to add suspense to make it a horror but it worked for the sort of lad bromance film i thought it could have been. I found Doghouse more interesting to watch than the Cottage although the Cottage definitely had more suspense to it and made me want to keep watching.

Posters

The first  minimalistic poster i created on photoshop was one with just two needles. I tried to keep it as simple as possible, i think the needles explain the film Imonster quite well considering it is only a black background with needles, the needles represents the drugs Dr Marlowe experimented with and injected people and himself with.

The other  minimalistic poster i made because i wanted to represent good and bad. By doing this i tried to get two faces that were the same but one being a devil and the other an angel , i thought of this because of the effects the drug has. It makes a grumpy old man really nice, and has a very bad effect on Marlowe who is not grumpy or bad.
I also tried to make it modern day by putting a pot of pills at the top and a marijuana leaf as i think things kind of drugs have effects like this on people nowadays!

Mood board

This is my mood board for my child hood.
I got the images from Flikr looking at the creative commons on each image and filling them out on a sheet of paper with each of the different types of creative commons on.

I Monster

I think the settings and the time of day is very important for a film such a I Monster as it sets the mood of the film and the feel! Being late at night or early morning creates a sense of tension and danger for horror movies. I think it is quite typically set for a horror film although there a quite a few scenes of Dr Marlowes lab and house which builds the movie up creating suspense.
Mr Blake goes out late evening and comes back early morning.

Horror Still

This is the horror still video i made.
First we made a story board of the photo's we wanted then in groups we went out and took the photo's.
We called our still 'the cottage' so we to a cottage near long road and also the wood at long road to shoot the pictures.
Then we went back and edited each image on photoshop using various types of tools and filters to change the colour and add blood. I found this fun as some of the effects used i think looks really good and with a little more practise i think i could make some quite gory images.
After we edited each image we made a video still of them on final cut while adding the music you wanted to it to give the still the final effect and made it more scary.

Dog hair gets injected into one of the teenagers and has a bad effect, starts changing slowly into .... physically and personality.

Film Poster

This is my simple book cover that i think sums up star wars.
I created this using photoshop and it’s numerous amounts of tools such as the magic wand and the lasso tool.
I had a vision of what I wanted to create. I like the contrast of black and white on the cover. I was going to put another lightsaber but a red one to represent the darkside in Star Wars but then i thought the white darth vadar mask already represented the darkside enough.
If i was to create this again i would perhaps have experimented more with different colours to see what contrasts and effects i could make.

I Monster

The main character in the film is Dr. Marlowe who experiments with drugs that you inject to create change of behavior. In the film Dr Marlowe talks about how the drugs gives the part of someone that the person doesn't know they have, i.e when he talks to the girl who tries to seduce him after being injected.
The other main character in the film Mr Blake gradually turns into a monster during the film both physically and with his personality. The other character in the film is D. Marlowe colleague who is also a friend his name is Dr. Utterson.

The three main elements of the original story that i believe will still appeal to a modern day audence of horror fans include putting a substance into your body that causes changes to take place and how these changes are different within different people.
A person changing into some sort of monster or alien such as the recent film(District 7) when a guy gets bitten by an alien and slowly changes into one.
The film is quite short and keeps the audience guessing and wanting to know what happens next which i think is a good selling point for the film.

The story beggins with Marlowe voicing his opinion that humans have a good and evil side that can be separated. In Marlowe's lab he experiments by injecting his cat with a drug, and when the cat attacks him he kills it with a poker. He also injects one of his patients with the drug and she then tries to seduce him. When a angry male patient comes to see him he gets injected he tries to please instead of being angry. Marlowe decides to inject himself as part of anexperiment and finds that when he gives himself an antidote he changes back again. The film continues with a pattern of injecting drugs which creates a bad character and then re-injecting with an antidote to change back, whilest on the drug a number of bad events take place and the plot becomes more complex.

The film works with freuds three parts of a person, the id, the ego and the super ego. The drug distroying two parts but a different two parts in each person when the super ego is distroyed people become monsters.

The cottage opening credits analysis

The opening credit sequence to the film 'The Cottage'
First it's just a black screen with ordinary white writing for the credits telling you, Isle of Man Film,
UK Film Council, Screen Yorkshire present and Steel Mill Pictures production. A scary whistling wind is played throughout this for the first 20 seconds which then turns into an uncomfortable high eary music and a bat or bird flying over a full moon which shows it's a horror movie.

Then it zooms down onto lots of trees in the dark with car driving down a road with the same eary music that keeps on you edge. Then they zoom in on back of car, bouncy lively music which i think shows that the movie wont be all gore and horror but you already know there will be quite a bit.
Then they show 'THE COTTAGE' in big bold white letters, with a blood effect running down them changing the letters to the colour of blood red.

The character David is not shaven smokes and is long leather jacket, he seems very relaxed about everything like he has done it before, a bit rude to Peter with some short sentences back to Peters questions.
David has quite a deep voice. I also think that the body of the person in the car is still alive which might be one of the reasons why David is so uptight about peter wearing a mug mask when he opens the car of the boot in case the person gets free and tells someone a description of the person who perhaps kidnapped or attacked her.

The character Peter seems very uptight about everything, when he steps out the car he's looking around with a nervous look on his face as if someone is watching him or something is going to happen.
He smokes but also shows he is not comfortable about the body being in the boot of the car. He seems like an innocent man as he is following what David tells him to do and forgets to put the mug mask over his face when he goes outside. Peter also seems annoyed he is with David far away from his wife when he says 'shows how often you've made me tea' in an annoyed tone.

Industry case study - VooDooDog

VooDooDog was founded in 2003 by David Obadiah (Producer), and Paul Donnellon (Creative Director). The studio is based in London, and works with many Hollywood studios, as well as TV studios (such as Channel 4 and the BBC). Voodoo has an excellent reputation for animation in particular, and has been nominated for the British Animation Awards. They also work on live action and web development.

In the film Made of Honor, the title sequence is live action, but animation has been used to introduce confetti into the everyday scenes. This has the effect of making the viewer anticipate romance. The screen shot I have chosen is of a piece of blue confetti floating into the apartment window where a couple are in bed. This effectively creates a focus for the key characters in the story.

I also looked at the title sequence for Nanny McPhee Returns. This title sequence tells short stories that demonstrate magic using a wide range of scenarios from the film, and accompanied by music that helps to create a variety of atmospheres, from fun and excitement, to a little fear with a prison scene. The animation is fast moving and quickly moves from one scene to another, but each involve surprise and magic in some description or another.
This screen shot shows the children appearing from random places. I have chosen it because it includes some of the key characters. It is not easy to do a screen shot of the magic itself, as this needs the action!
In the title sequence for The Life and Death of Peter Sellers, the sequence begins with live action but this quickly turns into animation, as in the screen shot below:

As in the Nanny McPhee title sequence, the signature style involves a wonderful combination of fast moving and changing animation, accompanied by music, with characters and film elements evolving from the different images. In all three title sequences, there is a snapshot of the film, particularly with the two animation ones, which rapidly transform from one scene to another.

Doghouse credit analysis

Today i watched the opening credits to the film Dog House. There are 7 main characters in the film Dog House, Vince, Neil, Graham, Mickey, Patrick and Matt.
The Film is set in London with the first scene being shown was the London eye and the river Thames.
The Character Vince seems to be very lazy. His apartment was a complete mess and there were half eaten curry containers by his bed. His Alarm went off a 1 in the afternoon and he still turned it off and wanted to sleep this also represents how lazy he is.
The Character Neil doesn't seem to respect women very much and seems like he is used to getting a lot of them as he doesn't remember the name of the girl he seemed to have slept. He seems to be Rich wearing a leather jacket and has a very nice convertable open top car. he talks in a typical london accent and is rude calling the girl a dog as he drives off.
The Character Graham seems quite argumentative as the opening scene is of him arguing with a guy who i would say seems typically gay. He then walks out saying ' No girls allowed darling' in a gay accent to the guy who i think is gay this shows the Graham is quite a sarcastic and doesn't respect the other guys feelings very much. He looks like he has a good job as he has a suitcase and a nice blue shirt on.
The character Mikey seems to be quite funny but also a very loyal friend as he wants to re-pay his friend over what his wife wants. I think he still cares about being with his wife as he glewed her wedding ring onto her finger so she couldn't take it off.
The character patrick doesn't seem to respect his wife or what she says or wants. He doesn't listen to her and seems like she stresses him out so has some 'sonic stress therepy' on his Ipod that he listens to instead of his wife or women he is living with rant at him.
The character Matt  doesn't like kids, he seems very protective over his comic and gets very annoyed at the kid when he calls the comic 'stupid'. Matt then shouts at him telling him to get out and calling him a nobhead as he leaves.

All the guys in pub getting drunk.
By watching just the introduction credits to Doghouse i wouldn't have noticed it being a horror straight away. I had to look closely at the scenes to notice it was, aMatt who sells comics had a lot of horror like things on the walls of his shop and seemed to believe in those kinds of things, this was one of my clues that it would be a horror another was  The Woman who chucks her red shoe at Neil and it’s a red heel, red represents danger on a woman or it normal leads the man to danger. The Title to the credit sequence is also a big give away it's a horror with bits of blood splashed on the white lettering.
It seems all the guys have got women problems of some sort and want to go out with all the lads again.
It feels as if horror is not the only genre i would put this film under, I think romance will come into it with the women problems and a bit of comedy too.

Doghouse is a Carnaby Film Porduction
Produced in association with hanover films
The credits printed on the screen are white with sort of black smudges on them which give out a good effect.
The music at the end when they are all in the pub is rocky which i think also shows that the film is recent and might have some comedy in the horror

Se7en and Kyle Cooper interview.

I watched a two half interview with Kyle Cooper, some of the things i got from the interviews are:

  • Don't make too much of your work digital (although he's not against the idea of having digital effects but thinks it looks better having it natural).
  • Don't be afraid to experiment. Kyle Cooper gives a good example, such as shooting things through broken glass to see what happens - thinking in unconventional ways to try things out.
  • Something simple can be very effective.

Opening Sequence For David Fincher's Se7en "1995"

The opening title sequence for the film Se7en is particularly good and quite cutting-edge. It is dark and mysterious making you feel a mix of emotions. Focus (or lack of it) has been used in the extreme close up shot of a hand turning the pages of a book. Through blurring of the hand, you are made to look at the more significant book image.

The use of close up and focus were used again in a disturbing clip where someone seemed to be playing with a Stanley knife. The effect of the title sequence is that you feel on alert, trying to work out what is going to happen. This title sequence develops or builds, so that the second minute is more unusual and bizarre than the first. You have to guess at what the images are, as they have been shot to make you puzzle over them and question. At the end the images look like dead, mutilated bodies. You begin to think of all kinds of scenarios when you watch it.

The next time that there is a close up of book pages being turned, the hand  is seen writing on paper, making you think that it is probably a diary. The pen is also shot putting lines through biblical words as if they are being crossed out. This makes you think that religion is involved in some way. Because clips are so varied (with different meanings), it is difficult to understand or put the puzzle pieces together and work out what the film might be about. This is unusual, because a trailer usually lets you know the kind of film you'll be watching in order for you to want to watch it. The effect of Kyle Coopers title sequence is very clever because it doesn't give anything away, but because of this it makes you want to keep watching (to try to work it out).

I think overall the opening title credits to the film "Se7en" are effective because of the effects that are used in them. Kyle Cooper uses an effect to show the credits vibrating when the actors and actresses names come in. The titles occasionally have drops of blood in them. I think the drops of blood is a good warning to the viewers of the film that there will be gore and horror. The music played in the opening titles sounds uncomfortable It doesn't make a lot of sense musically and i think it keeps you on edge about watching the film. Throughout the opening titles there is someone with a needle sewing up a book. The opening titles are very detailed. All the recordings that are taken are close-ups of either the book that the person is sewing or of the persons hands. I think the title sequence is unique and interesting to watch.

Hammer Horror Comic

I am pleased with the final comic design.
I changed a lot of things from my original comic piece.
I couldn't find speech marks that would work with my comic on photoshop even after downloading various brushes and trying to draw them so i imported the photoshop images into word for the speech bubble effects that i think make it look like a comic.
I made some of the heads bigger from the images so that it looked more animated, to do this i used the 'lasso' tool on photoshop to draw around the head and then re-sized it until i thought the head was a good size.

This is my original comic..

Prelim Task

We completed this task to help us with shooting shots with a video camera, making sure they make sense and look effective.

I think we could have done the scene where we switch camera angle from opening the door to walking in the room better as we changed the camera from left(when putting hand on handle and walking in) to right when nathan is walking into the room. We could have made this transition smoother.

Today we video'd our preliminary task and edited in final cut. First me and my group planned out and created the storyboard together. We planned out what different show angles we were going to use for each scene and what the scene would be about.

Then we made the script, the script wasn't long as we didn't have much time to film it.
We got told about how we have to shoot the over the shoulder shot twice on the same side but over the other persons shoulder.
Our first shot was of Nathan walking past the camera then the camera following him until he reached the door, then we changed the angle of the camera to the door knob and him opening the door, then changed the angle of the camera again to him walking in to the room from opening the door, this is called match on action. When it looks like we've only recorded a shot once but from two different angles.
We learnt how to use the 180 degree rule.  This is when recording a conversation between two people and you have to imagine there is a line dividing them. We had to keep the camera on either the left or the right of the imaginary line to prevent the people looking like they'd  changed round. We do this by filming them from the angle of looking  over the shoulder of each of the character saying the same script so you can change between them both while editing with it looking and sounding good.

The video in our video wasn't as good as i would have liked it to be. we changed the angle from the left when he is walking to the door to the right when he is walking into the room from the door.

I think my group did well with the other the shoulders shot as we kept to the 180 degree rule.
