Prelim Task

We completed this task to help us with shooting shots with a video camera, making sure they make sense and look effective.

I think we could have done the scene where we switch camera angle from opening the door to walking in the room better as we changed the camera from left(when putting hand on handle and walking in) to right when nathan is walking into the room. We could have made this transition smoother.

Today we video'd our preliminary task and edited in final cut. First me and my group planned out and created the storyboard together. We planned out what different show angles we were going to use for each scene and what the scene would be about.

Then we made the script, the script wasn't long as we didn't have much time to film it.
We got told about how we have to shoot the over the shoulder shot twice on the same side but over the other persons shoulder.
Our first shot was of Nathan walking past the camera then the camera following him until he reached the door, then we changed the angle of the camera to the door knob and him opening the door, then changed the angle of the camera again to him walking in to the room from opening the door, this is called match on action. When it looks like we've only recorded a shot once but from two different angles.
We learnt how to use the 180 degree rule.  This is when recording a conversation between two people and you have to imagine there is a line dividing them. We had to keep the camera on either the left or the right of the imaginary line to prevent the people looking like they'd  changed round. We do this by filming them from the angle of looking  over the shoulder of each of the character saying the same script so you can change between them both while editing with it looking and sounding good.

The video in our video wasn't as good as i would have liked it to be. we changed the angle from the left when he is walking to the door to the right when he is walking into the room from the door.

I think my group did well with the other the shoulders shot as we kept to the 180 degree rule.
